Thank you for your interest in Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and this critically important leadership position of our new Chair.
As Governors of the Trust we spend time talking to staff throughout the Trust and see the passion and ambition they have for our services as well as their commitment to the Trust’s values. Unfortunately, we have hit the headlines over the last 9 months with governance issues and the departures of the former Chief Executive and former Chair widely reported. This has been an unsettling time for our staff, governors and partners, however several key appointments have now been made to the Board and we are working together to create a strong culture of compassionate care for our patients and staff. Our performance is strengthening as a result.
The Trust is a major employer on the Wirral and we take our role as a partner in the wider health and care economy seriously. We recognise our opportunity and responsibility to improve the future well-being of our population.
Our Chair will be critical to providing strong, visible and transparent leadership to the Board of Directors, Council of Governors and to ensuring strong and open communication channels between the two bodies. This Trust has huge potential and this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and inspirational Board leader to make their mark in a challenging and rewarding role.
We are seeking a values-driven leader who can handle risk and ambiguity comfortably and can bring intellect and insight to strengthen our governance processes. Providing clear vision and accountability, this role will require an exceptional communicator who will be politically astute and bring credibility and gravitas in representing the organisation with a wide range of stakeholders locally, regionally and nationally.
I hope you enjoy finding out more about the Trust and I encourage you in the first instance to contact our recruitment partners at GatenbySanderson; Emma Pickup or Robin Staveley on 0113 205 6296 to find out more.
